Hi – I suffer from chronic anxiety disorder & have about 1-2 panic attacks a day. Today I had one in a fashion shopping store and was about to faint but it was way more intense and odd than the other ones – I couldn’t hear a dang thing! My friend was trying to talk to me and it sounded as if she was under water – Is that due to the attack or a real health problem? I’ve never had that before. My hearing was almost gone?! It came back after the attack though.

If you’re having panic attacks this frequently, and especially if they’ve just started recently, you should talk to your psychologist/psychiatrist as soon as you can.

Maybe what you experienced was because of your lack of consciousness. Sometimes when you faint, your hearing and vision is impaired when you come to. However, if you were fully conscious when this happened and your vision was intact, then it’s definitely something you want to consult your psychologist, or even your doctor, about.

how do you live?? are there any pills you can ask for from your doc? I get them once every 2 or 3 months…and they do not feel good I start spastically crying, and can’t breathe, and hyperventilating…

I have had that before with panic attacks. I cant quite pin point why it happened sometimes but not others… but when it did happen I always felt like I was in slow motion too.

I guess medically speaking it can be explained by the rush of adrenaline, or the lack of oxygen… I think you should mention to your doctor if it happens again.

But I wouldnt worry as my hearing is fine and dandy :)

When you start experiencing the onset of an anxiety attak..do the YOGA breathing….1. Inhale deeply..saying “in with the good” 2. Exhale saying “out with the bad”…Works!! I suffered from anxiety attacks for years..now off meds and no attacks.
Sounds too simple to be true but it is!!! HUGS!!
